Second phase of works started for Virgin Trains
Lockit-safe have just started phase 2 of its work for Virgin Trains installing cycle hubs at three stations; Peterborough, Newark and Doncaster.
At Peterborough we will be removing existing cycle stands and replacing with a new secure cycle hub for 154 cycles. The cycle hub will be fitted with two tier racks, LED lighting and have a swipe card access system. The area will be fully glazed and include vinyl graphics and logos.
At Newark station we will be installing a similar cycle hub, but for 52 bikes. In addition we are also providing new cycle shelters to accommodate 44 bikes
At Doncaster station, we are renovating two rooms to turn into an indoor cycle hub with changing facilities and a retail unit for repairs and maintenance of passengers’ cycles. As part of the renovation we will be putting up new walls, lighting and access controlled doors. This facility will provide cycle parking for 58 bikes on two tier cycle racks. Lockers are also included to allow users to store their cycle helmets and other kit.
All works will be completed by June.
