Lockit-safe recently completed the delivery of 15 new BikeNest units for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, significantly expanding the borough’s secure cycle storage capacity to 36 units in total. These installations are designed to support residential communities, offering lockable, weatherproof bike storage in high-density areas where space and security are key concerns.

This project continues Lockit-safe’s partnership with the borough, where previous works have included school cycle shelters as part of a long-term active travel commitment.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

While BikeNests are usually delivered pre-assembled, this rollout presented a number of access challenges. Many sites were in tight residential locations where large delivery vehicles couldn’t reach. In response, Lockit-safe delivered units flat-packed, completing full on-site assembly with minimal disruption to residents or surrounding infrastructure.

All 15 units were successfully installed within a two-week window, with permit approvals managed directly by Lockit-safe.
