Moving and extending the cycle parking facilities for a newly merged school

In 2005 Lockit Safe installed a 40 cycle compound to the school. Following a merger and school expansion through the BSF programme, this cycle parking facility was no longer adequate or in the right location.

As the original bike compound was in good condition, however, the school did not want to scrap it so asked Lockit-Safe to refurbish and move it to integrate with the new parking.

As the school was being rebuilt this meant that not only did this need to be completed with sympathy to the school environment, it also had to be done with difficult access conditions and whilst working alongside other construction.

THE SOLUTION

The existing cycle compound was cleaned, re-clad and re-sprayed and amalgamated with –

  • 2 x 80 cycle compounds
  • 1 x 36 cycle compound
  • Integrated  racks for 80 scooters
  • 1 x 16 Angus cycleshelter

The scooter racks provide a space efficient solution to the increasing number of children using scooters in that you can fit 20 scooters in a 10 cycle space
