Providing a shaded communal area as part of a school redevelopment
Cromwell College is a secondary school that was undergoing a redevelopment of the school. As part of this project a playground area next to the linking of the old and new buildings was identified as a good communal space, but one that would be more usable if shade was provided.
THE SOLUTION
In order to provide adequate shade for the area, a configuration of 10 posts and 6 shades was designed by Lockit-Safe.
- 3 square hyperbolic sloping shades
- 3 triangular sloping shades
- Galvanised posts
- Multi coloured shades
Lockit-Safe worked alongside the groundworks contractor so that 300mm tubes were inserted in the ground, the block work was then carried out to the playground surface which still allowed for the posts to be concreted in the ground without disturbing the newly laid surface.
This area is to be used as an outdoor common area.
