Providing the cycle parking solution for a new cycle hire scheme at Norwich Station

Norwich and East Anglia has a strong interest in cycling and Greater Anglia rail wanted to encourage the use of cycles as clean sustainable travel around the city and surrounding areas.

THE SOLUTION

A cycle hire scheme was put in place at Norwich station where rail passengers could hire one of the 30 bikes available for a small daily fee and use it as part of their commute, or for tourists as a great way of getting around the area.

With space at a premium on the station, they opted for a two tier cycle rack within a paladin fenced compound which was manned by rail staff.

Because members of the station staff would be operating the two tier bike racks many times a day, it was important to make the process as easy as possible so we installed a power-assisted top tier which requires minimal effort to operate.

The launch event saw MP’s from both the Conservative and Liberal Democrat Parties supporting and congratulating the scheme which is one of the first of its kind in the community.

Conservative MP, Chloe Smith stated “It is easy to use and people will find it convenient”
