As part of its commitment to active travel infrastructure, West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) appointed Lockit-safe to deliver a cycle parking upgrade at Ralph Thoresby School in Leeds. This key installation formed part of the WYCA framework to improve cycle storage across schools in the region.

The project included the delivery of a 20-cycle Hamble compound and three secure BikeNests for staff and visitor use, replacing the school’s outdated existing provision.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

The project required the removal of old shelters and installation of a new concrete base for the cycle compound. The school remained fully operational throughout the works, so careful planning was essential to ensure student safety and avoid disruption.

A detailed site visit and assessment enabled Lockit-safe to produce site-specific proposals, including clear before-and-after visuals to help WYCA and the school visualise the changes. This collaborative approach helped streamline approvals and fast-track installation.
