Improving the cycle parking of schools and outdoor centres in Edinburgh
As part of a new contract awarded by Edinburgh Council, Lockit-safe were tasked with improving the cycle parking options for 13 education establishments across the Edinburgh area.
There were a mix of nursery and primary schools plus some outdoor centres. Some had basic cycle racks and others had no cycle storage provision.
THE SOLUTION
The new cycle parking facilities provided 146 cycle parking spaces and 110 scooter spaces across the 13 schools. The majority of the cycle spaces were in the form of Hamble cycle shelters although there were also some Hamble cycle compounds used. The scooter racks were double sided.
As part of the projects, groundworks were also needed including concrete pockets and concrete bases when required.
