Replacing old and out of date cycle parking facilities
Gilberd School had existing cycle parking facilities which were old, dilapidated and un secure. As a result they suffered from problems of theft and the cycle parking facilities did little to encourage pupils to cycle to school.
THE SOLUTION
Lockit-Safe removed and disposed of the old cycle shelters and the area was excavated and backfilled 15 shelter pockets with a metre cubed of concrete each.
In place of the old bike shelters Lockit-Safe supplied and installed three 10m York Cycle Shelters and one 6m York Cycle Shelter to accommodate 200 cycles.
To combat the security problems, the bike shelters were positioned within a secure cycle compound that included the supply and fitting of six access gates and 75 metres of paladin fencing.
This work was undertaken in a two week period during school holidays to minimise disruption to the school.
