Creating a flexible, social space for pupils to meet, work and relax
Meden school wanted to make use of some ‘dead’ space in between some of their buildings. It was used as a passageway but provided the opportunity to create some shaded quiet space for pupils. They wanted the area to be sheltered but still retain and open aspect.
THE SOLUTION
The solution was to use a series of shade sales to cover the area. Shade sails are a great way of providing shade and some weather protection and their shape adds visual interest and dynamism to the space.
A combination of square and hyperbolic shades were used between 9 steel posts. They covered five seating table benches giving the pupils options to meet and relax and also for teachers a valuable outdoor classroom option.
