WIth new funding from the Department of Transport, Network Rail are working alongside Southeastern Railway to deliver improved facilities at a number of stations throughout the network.
Lockit-safe was awarded the contract in January 2020 following a tender and work started on the cycle parking improvements for Catenbury West and Maidstone East stations.
Challenges
The project had a number of challenges. Access to the station was an issue as it was through a builder’s yard, so we needed to establish a good relationship with the company in order to give us easy access.
Then the biggest challenge hit – COVID 19. We were mid installation in Canterbury when the country went into lockdown so all works had to be immediately halted. We managed to get our installation team back home safely, make the site safe and secure, and put all uninstalled products into storage.
Once lockdown restrictions were eased, we were able to go back to the site to complete the installation. In order to ensure a COVID-safe working environment, we modified our working practices in line with government guidelines and with agreement from the client.
