INTRODUCTION
Lockit Safe supported a major active travel project across West Yorkshire, delivering improved cycle storage and scooter parking facilities for schools across five districts: Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
Running from September 2024 to June 2026, the project focused on helping schools provide safer, more practical and more accessible parking for pupils, staff and visitors who travel by bike or scooter. From initial site requirements and product recommendations through to delivery and installation, Lockit Safe provided a complete end-to-end cycle parking solution tailored to the needs of each school environment.
The project resulted in 103 completed installations, delivering 1,462 bike parking spaces and 1,832 scooter parking spaces, creating a total of 3,294 new parking spaces across West Yorkshire.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
Delivering a large-scale school cycle storage project across multiple districts required careful planning, flexibility and practical on-site problem solving. Each school had different space constraints, access requirements, safeguarding considerations and site layouts, meaning a one-size-fits-all approach would not have been suitable.
Lockit Safe worked closely with project stakeholders to assess each location and recommend the most appropriate cycle storage, scooter parking and secure compound solutions. 26 completed installations, providing 356 bike parking spaces and 544 scooter parking spaces.

22 completed installations, providing 424 bike parking spaces and 390 scooter parking spaces.
