250th BikeNest Installed in Waltham Forest as Project Reaches Midpoint
Lockit-safe has reached the halfway point in its delivery of 500 on-street BikeNest units for the London Borough of Waltham Forest, with the 250th unit now installed.
This large-scale project forms part of Waltham Forest’s ongoing commitment to improving active travel infrastructure and providing secure cycle parking solutions for residents across the borough. With the next phase of installations scheduled over the coming months, the network of BikeNests continues to expand.
Coordination at Scale
Installing 500 secure cycle storage units across busy residential streets requires meticulous planning and coordination. Lockit-safe installs the BikeNests in batches of 20 units at a time, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and efficient delivery on the ground.
As with all on-street installations, parking bay suspensions and permits are required ahead of time. Our team works closely with the local authority to manage permit applications, site readiness, and installation sequencing—making sure each batch is delivered on time and in full compliance with local regulations.
Delivering for Active Travel
Every new BikeNest installed provides secure, weatherproof and lockable cycle parking for up to six bikes, helping to reduce theft and encourage cycling for everyday journeys.
This latest milestone highlights the growing investment in high-quality cycle storage across London boroughs—and the critical role of well-planned infrastructure in supporting active and sustainable transport choices.
What’s Next?
The next phase of installations in Waltham Forest is due to take place in the coming months, with the full 500 units set to be delivered by Lockit-safe under the current contract.
We’re proud to support Waltham Forest’s ambitious cycling agenda by supplying and installing the infrastructure needed to make safe, secure bike storage part of everyday street life.
