Update on Ashford International Station

The project to transform the station forecourt area at Ashford International Station to the SE Cycle Hub is now complete.

As main contractor to South Eastern Trains we have radically changed the station forecourt area using a decking system to create two levels of cycle parking.

Our task started with the removal of the old compound and setting the new concrete foundations. This involved not only liaising with Network Rail but also HS1 (High Speed 1) and working around access and delivery restrictions due to the busy nature of the station. All deliveries and even the concrete for the foundations had to be pumped from the top car park.

One of the main features of this project is the raised deck area which allows for a free public access cycle parking area to be created using two tier cycle racks. The deck area has been created as a cantilever due to the fact that no foundations are allowed close to the HS1 land boundaries.

The space below this new raised deck area is a secure compound with access control, lighting and CCTV.

This has been one of our largest projects to date and includes full design and build and we are delighted with the end results.
